I’m sorry I’ve been away from the blog for so long but I really did need to take a rest. Anyway to make up for it here are some photos of my recent finishes.

This is a baby quilt I did for a young relative’s new baby. I hope she likes it. I haven’t heard since I sent it.

These images are from a coverlet I made using McKenna Ryan fabric and quilting with Aurifil 12wt. Click on the pics to get a better view. I’m afraid the photos don’t do it justice it looks MUCH nicer in the fabric so-to-speak. 🙂

This next photo is of the Camelot quilt which I recently had machine quilted even though the blocks are hand-pieced, so that I could have it ready to give as a wedding present to some young relatives.

And last but not least Mr Tiggy “hiding” but sprung in the laundry sink. Sigh…

That cat!!!

We have a new, white IKEA chair that Mr Tiggy isn’t allowed on. It has a matching footstool that is also out of bounds. I was sitting on the chair the other day with a quilt thrown over my knees. I got up and left the quilt on the footstool and when I came back…

P1060280 P1060281I shooed him off, folded up the quilt and then went off to do something. I had been handquilting my daughter’s Bed of Roses quilt and had left it on the portable table I was using to put my needles and thread etc. When I came back this is what I found…

I left the quilt on a chair after sewing in the evening. In the morning I found the cat had already colonised it!

Keeping in touch

This is just a “keeping in touch post”. I’m still plodding away with my pointy blocks. Honestly the pile does NOT seem to get any smaller!

I’ve just about got the sewing room sorted though I have still to put my Janome into the Horn Cabinet. The problem is that the extender table for the Janome isn’t big enough to extend over the hole so I’m going to have to try and find a plexiglass insert somewhere. Has any of you ever ordered one?

Mr Tiggy

Looking right back at you!

Looking right back at you!

What's all this furniture doing here?

I thought it was a while since Mr Tiggy put in an appearance and he has been so cute lately that I thought I share some photos with you.

Hmm! That looks better than my canned tuna!

Cat Magnets!

We all know that a quilt on a bed, on a chair, or on the floor is a cat magnet. See below:

However, I have incontrovertible proof that it’s not just because they are horizontal and soft to lie on. Here is a photo of Mr Tiggy unable to resist the pull of a vertical quilt. Proof positive – if, indeed, proof were needed – that quilts are cat magnets!

The Cat in the Cupboard

hand quilting, Mr Tiggy, quilting blog, sewing blog, sewjournal blog

I was sitting hand-quilting my In a Spin quilt this afternoon. I looked up and saw that Mr Tiggy had decided to stake his claim to an empty shelf in the Ikea cupboard I use for my stash. Previously the stash shared the cupboard with books but now that we have all those lovely new bookshelves I have some spare space. I haven’t bothered rearranging things yet as all this furniture will have to be moved (yes and my stash packed up) for the new carpet to be laid so I guess Mr Tiggy can have it for a while yet.

P.S. That’s my latest lacy scarf he’s curled up with. I’m waiting for my blocking wires to arrive so I can wash it and block it into shape, then I’ll show you.

Camelot continued

I’ve now inset the circle block into the square frame. I thought it might be difficult but it wasn’t and I really enjoyed it. (The photo doesn’t really show it but the frame isn’t the same fabric as the other purple one which actually has spots on it.)

The thing is, what now? I made this block mostly from bits of left over fabric. It’s too nice to discard but I’m not sure what to do with it. Make a small quilt and sell it? Make a cushion cover and sell it? Either way I’ll have to put a border around it and hand quilt it.

I’d like to raise some money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation but I have’t quite got my head around the way they work yet. They have some strange way of giving you a fund-raising page hosted by some “Hero” company. When, and if, I work it out I might make a few small quilts and offer them for sale for this cause. What do you think?

Mr Tiggy “at home”

It’s such a hard life for a cat, isn’t it? Lying about looking cute, sleeping and looking cute and only speaking when you want to eat.

You’ll never guess…

You’ll never guess what was wrong with my Mac! Nothing! That’s right, absolutely nothing! Or so it would appear. After a whole weekend at Robert the Mac guru’s place where it worked PERFECTLY, it came home. We plugged it in here and nothing again. It turned out it was a faulty outlet on the powerboard. When I changed it to another outlet it worked fine. All that hassle for nothing. Never mind at least it was cheaper than a new power system and an Apple Tech!

Hopefully I’ll have some new photos to show you tomorrow. For the moment here are some of Mr Tiggy being cute as a few people have said they missed him.
