Thank you

I wanted to say thank you to all my loyal readers and particularly to those of you who take the time to leave me comments. I didn’t want to run a competition to say “Thank you” because then I get comments from people who blog hop just to win. I wanted to reward those of you contribute to make this blog what it is. I really do read all your comments and I take note of your suggestions – even though I may end up picking something totally out of left field! I decided to add all the names of those people who have commented so far during September, to a spreadsheet and then consult Mr Random and pick five winners.

I have to tell you this was not an easy task. There is no simple way to export the names of the commenters. So it was cut and paste and format for Excel, cut and paste and format for Excel, cut and paste and format… you get the picture!  Anyway Mr Random picked Numbers 6,8,21, 50 and 46. And the lucky ladies whose names appeared in those spots were Linda, Kate, Helen V, Sylvia and Sue.

Congratulations ladies. You have won my bag pattern. I’ll be emailing it to you in the next little while. If you’ve already bought it then you can share this one with a friend without infringing copyright.

Enjoy!

My New Bag Pattern is Finished

Finally my new bag pattern is finished. If you’d like to make one or two of these funky “green” shopping or project bags then click on the Paypal button over on the right. I’ve made the pattern easily affordable in the hope that people won’t print out lots of copies for their friends. If you want to share then just change the quantity in the Paypal form and when I email you the pattern I’ll give you permission to send copies to the number you’ve purchased. This may be naive of me but I think most people are honest and understand that at $5 a pop I’m not making a fortune.

What I’m busy with part 1

I have a few irons in the fire at the moment so I thought I’d take stock.

1. The bag pattern

I’m busy revising my bag pattern. Do you remember these?

Well I’ve written a pattern and instructions on how to make them. The red and white one is another I made for my friend Sylvia in the US.

I also sent her a copy of my pattern and she tested it for me. I’m in the process of making the changes she suggested and then it will be available. It’s a simple pattern and even I – the world’s slowest machine sew-er – can make one in a couple of hours.

Here are some photos of the ones that Sylvia made. She used that double-sided, pre-quilted fabric and I think they look great. She made a shorter one and a longer one. The pattern is flexible and it’s really up to you what size you make it.

6 months of blogging and a give-away

Bag pattern, blogs, fabrics, give-away, Japanese style fabric, quilting blog, sewing blog, sewjournal blog

Yesterday was my 6 month bloggiversary! More than 30,500 views! Thank you so much for your interest and support. I really enjoy your comments, your advice and your support.

To celebrate I’m going to have a give-away. I’ve been racking my brains to come up with something nice but not too heavy for international/national postage. As you know my fabric favourites are Japanese and bright and whacky fabrics. I know these aren’t to everyone’s taste so I’ve come up with two fat quarters from the Memories of Osaka Range by Betty Wang for South Sea Imports. They are Japanese style fabrics but in muted colours which I think many of you will like. I’m also adding a pattern for a Stitcher’s bag that folds out to reveal storage for just about anything a stitcher could need. I hope you like the prize.

How to enter the give-away

Now, you have two chances to enter. First just leave a comment on this post. I’ll leave comments open until Saturday Aussie time. The second chance to win is yours if you add the Sewjournal Blog (http://sewjournal.com) to your blogroll and then let me know that you’ve done it and leave a link to where I can find it. Simple! (If you’ve already added me to your blogroll then thank you 🙂 and just let me know in your comment and you’ll get a second chance to win.) [Edit: I forgot to say international entries are welcome.]

Good luck and thanks again for your support.
