Ms Sissix to the rescue
You know I’m the Queen of Easing? I have to be as I’m not a good cutter of either fabric or template plastic. However, the other day at Lorena’s (she of the tidy sewing studio that inspired my clean up) I got to play with her Sissix Big Shot Pro machine.
Now I have to confess that I had previously thought that these machines were probably another quilty gimmick that would go the way of so many fancy rulers, cutters etc., though my friend Amy of Badskirt swears by her Sissix. But I now have to confess to being a convert. I cut some isosceles triangles and half isosceles triangles and after a scary few hours where I couldn’t get them to work (the problem being an inaccurate sewing machine foot) they are now just perfect!
Best of all…
My machine sewing skills can hardly be called skills really. I’m not very good at it. A fact made worse when the pieces haven’t been accurately cut or as mentioned above, the sewing machine foot isn’t an accurate 1/4″. This morning I pieced some of these triangles with the correct foot and it was SO EASY! I might have to get myself one of these though I think I’ll have to settle for Ms Sissix Big Shot Pro’s little sister as I can’t justify the cost of the big one. Thanks for letting me play Lorena!
