I’ve taken progress photos and started to write progress posts but I never finished them. Anyway now I’m actually sewing on the binding so I thought I’d show you the border quilting before I do the big reveal when it’s finished.
Aurifil 12wt – my new favourite thread
The thread I used for the border is this variegated Aurifil 12 wt. It has a lovely sheen and I really enjoyed sewing with it. I bought it from my friend Kate of Kate Quilts who sells it at very reasonable prices. I think I might have to get some other colours.
Very nice. I love your stitching. I’m going to give that 12wy a try.
You’ve been quiet lately, but its great to see that you’ve been keeping up the work on this quilt. The quilting is looking beautiful…can’t wait for the final reveal. And I do like the look of that thread. I don’t remember ever seeing 12 wt… How thick is it, compared to say 1 strand of embroidery thread?
Hi Dot
It’s a bit thinner than Perle 8 but I like it much more.
The Sulky Blendables I’ve been using (Traveller’s Blanket)are also 12 wt. I think it’s perfect for big stitch quilting. Much easier to use than the thicker 8wt and much more visible than the usual quilting weight threads.
Cheers

I like it a lot! Your hand stitching always amazes me in it’s evenness. Not just the stitches, but the width of the rows. I’m eager to see the finished project!
