As I mentioned a couple of posts ago I have quite a bit to share. I think I told you that some my 2011 fabric orders had arrived. Want to see? The first pics are of my Shabby Fabrics order. The top fabric is a lovely lemon on white print (camera doesn’t do it justice) and the others are these gorgeous solids.
I’m really happy with the service from Shabby fabrics as I told you in an earlier post and as a copywriter and marketing consultant in my day job, I appreciate their marketing abililty. Their business card has all the regular quilt sizes with fabric quantities for the quilt and the binding on the back. What a great way to get you to keep their business card!. Well done ladies. Pity I’m on a fabric fast for 2012 I won’t be able to shop there for another 12 months.
I also got part of my order from Hancock’s recently too. All these lovely striped fabrics and a Sewline glue stick.
I’ll be interested to see how good that is as I’m unimpressed with the Sewline pen of which I have had two and both ended up breaking with leads stuck inside the mechanism.
And just in case you think all I’ve been doing is stroking fabric here’s a progress picture on the Copper Tray Pattern appliqué.
ooooo, fabric fondling…..my favorite activity!! 😎 That striped fabric is interesting, and the solids and that butter and white one are marvelous. I love how solids look when you line them up or stack them like that. Your reverse applique is looking great! I am so amazed at how polished a finish it makes, even with only this small amount done. Will the white dividing lines be really small when you have it all done? I should try doing that on a small piece. I’ll let you know if I work up the courage….lol
I just read this tutorial ( http://www.sewwequilt.com/2012/01/tool-time-with-kerry-from.html ) and learned how Pilot brand Frixion pens can be used as marking pens. I had one here at home, so tried it on a piece of scrap fabric and it worked wonderfully. The pen has a white area on the opposite end from the point, and when using it as a regular pen, you can rub that white part over the mark and it erases. Well, being the genius that I am….smirk, giggle………I realized why it works as it does in the tutorial. The heat from the rubbing (friction) makes it erase. You might find one of those useful if you can find one over there. If you can’t find one, and would like to try it, let me know and I can get one for you and send it to you. Just let me know.

Hi Linda
Thanks for the heads up on the Frizion pen. I just read on an email list I belong to that they’re supposed to be good. The problem though is not marking the fabric it’s that the fabric gives too much when you mark such a geometrical shape on it and that’s why I find another medium is better.
Cheers

And what exactly would be wrong with “stroking fabric” all day ?????
