The sewing retreat part 1

I went on a sewing retreat with some friends for the weekend. My husband stayed home and held the fort and fed the animals. We went to Hartzer Park, just outside Bowral. It is owned by the Catholic Church and is part of the ministry of the Australian Province of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. It is used for both religious and non-religious retreats and is set in beautiful gardens.

There is a lovely old house on the property. It was built in 1880 and reminds me of some of the lovely wooden houses I’ve seen when I’ve visited states.

We, however, were housed in the an Art Deco style building that was built in 1963. The building had this internal courtyard that you can see here and stunning Art Deco staircases like this one.

The weather was lovely during the day though somewhat cold for my liking.
Inside the building there was a lot to inspire patchworkers – there were block patterns everywhere.

More on the sewing retreat later…
