Yesterday a friend and I went to Bowral in the Southern Highlands. It’s about an hour’s drive south of Sydney. We visited the lovely quilt shop My Place where I bought a large panel of the It’s a Hoot fabric to go with the charm squares and left over jelly roll I have and an assortment of fat eighths.
I also bought half a metre of this lovely, very fine, cotton lawn. I don’t know what it’s called because the selvedge is in Japanese but I’m just taken by the quirkiness of it. You can tell how fine it is because you can see the images from the lower layers of fabric through the top one.
Neat as a New Pin
While my friend discussed her quilting classes with the owner, I went browsing in the main street and found these tiny Kilner type jars in a home wares shop. They’re ideal for storing my long pins because they’re slim enough that the pins can’t turn over so they always stay points down. Neat as a new pin!
Also on my browse along the main street I spotted this slightly Art Deco looking brooch. Isn’t it lovely?
