Today was a splendid Sydney winter’s day – a chilly 15C to begin with and then a lovely 21C around lunch time.  I headed off to Camden this morning. It’s a small country village around 30 minutes south of where I live.

The Camden Country Quilters were having their annual Quilt Show. The CCQ Guild members had helped local shops decorate their window displays with a selection of members’ quilts. Here are a couple.

There was a good crowd when I arrived – not too crowded so you couldn’t see and move reasonably freely and not so sparse that there was no atmosphere. I met a few friends and then checked out the quilts. There were some real stunners there. I took some photos and the ones I am showing below I have the permission of the makers to show you. Enjoy!

This quilt is a wall hanging called Sea Fever and was made by Wendy Mied. It showcases a variety of different techniques and I really like it. I especially like the sailboat, you can almost feel the wind buffeting it.

This next quilt is also a wall hanging and was made by Jo Neich. I love the use of the Aboriginal fabric in the body of the Boab Tree – which, by the way, is the name of this quilt.

The next quilt I want to show you was made by Nancye Aitken and is called Bowral Butterflies. Look at all those gorgeous Kaffe Fassett fabrics she’s used.

This is Jenny Coleman and her quilt titled Pelicans at Wallis Lake. The quilt was inspired by her holiday photos of Foster in NSW.

If you live in or around Sydney do go and visit the Camden Quilt Show. It’s on tomorrow (Sunday) as well. They also do a great line in pumpkin soup, scones and coffee and tea.

Of course a Quilt Show isn’t a quilt show without some LQS stalls, is it? There were several of those and also a sales table with some really lovely handmade items. I didn’t buy much – just a gadget for cutting out circles, a few buttons and 2010 Quilt Calendar. I know the year is more than half over – how did that happen? – but the photos are just so lovely and it did only cost $1!
