At last! I’ve sewn the last stitch on the binding of my Kaffe for All Seasons Quilt. I’ve taken some photos. Not very good I’m afraid as it was night time but they’ll give you an idea.
I had lots of problems with this quilt but I learned lots of lessons too. It was only the second one I had ever machine quilted and the first where I basted using spray basting. If I was doing this again, I would baste either with pins or thread and I would stabilise the quilt by quilting in the ditch first. I deliberately quilted horizontally in two quadrants and vertically in the other two to add a feeling of movement. However, I wouldn’t do this again as it has a tendency to distort the quilt.
So, it’s not perfect, it has its warts but you know what? I really like it. I like the way the fabrics and colours play together and I like it’s exuberance and vibrancy. And most of all… I like it because it’s finished!
