Yesterday I finished quilting the winter quadrant of my Kaffe for All Seasons. I have to say I found it much easier to quilt this last quadrant having attended Deborah Louie’s machine quilting class for beginners and not using that dreadful basting spray!
To attach the summer and winter quadrants together I machined the front seam together with the batting. Then I trimmed the batting and I folded over the back fabric and appliquéd one fabric on top of the other.
I know some people will say that having made all these blocks by hand it’s a shame do to this straight line quilting but I didn’t like what I was doing and rather than have a UFO I decided to make it into a quilt in the quickest and easiest way I could. I have quilted the lines horizontally in summer and autumn and vertically in winter and spring to try to get the feeling of rotation of the seasons. Hope it works.
Oh well, onward and upward!
