How to quilt the labyrinth?
I’ve completed quilting the centre of my Labyrinth quilt but I couldn’t decide how to quilt the actual path of the labyrinth. Should I use a double or single row of stitches? Should they be small or large and decorative? Which thread should I use – one of the Sulky Blendables I bought or a Perle 8 I had? It took ages before an answer came to me and then it seemed obvious. I guess that’s always the way.
Morse code quilting
As I thought about the symbolism of the labyrinth and what it’s purpose was, I realised that it was to save our souls. Then it came to me! I would quilt the labyrinthine path with the morse code SOS – Save Our Souls ( … — …). I decided to use a colonial knot for the dots and then I realised I had forgotten how to execute one. I found a great video here that shows you very clearly how to make the knots. I decided to use the dark green variegated Sulky thread and so far I’m very happy with the result. What do you think? Hi Munaiba
Thanks for putting the threads up, fascinating. What an inventive way of quilting, it’s opened my mind to lots of thoughts.

This is a great project you are working on Munaiba. Thank you so much for sharing. That KF fabric is perfect, isn’t it! and the appliqued labyrinth itself is such a great design. I’m impressed by the SOS concept for the quilting but I am mostly impressed by how much thought you are putting into every detail. The sentiment is very thought provoking. Good luck with the project, I can’t wait to see the next step.
It’s perfect… no other word for it!
I think it’s wonderful and I really love the morse code quilting. Very original idea there.
What an original idea! That’s what I love about the internet…there is so much to broaden our horizons with, and you are one of those people who can do that for us….thanks! Great work!
