Sew Mama Sew has called for favourite sewing tips. Here are four of mine:
1. Don’t sew to a deadline – you’ll make more mistakes and it takes all the fun out of it.
2. Don’t believe there is only one right way to do something. Check out all the possibilities and exercise your own creativity as well.
3. When sewing on the binding, roll the binding into a ball and stick a pin through it so you don’t get all tied up.
4. This one is my take on a neat idea Janet showed on her blog Quiltsalott. (Scroll down until you can see the thread and needle keeper.) My idea is to take a piece of ribbon, roll it around a thread spool, thread your needles and then stick them in the ribbon. (I’m too lazy to make a thread keeper for all the different threads I’m using in a quilt but this idea has the same effect and is cheaper and less time consuming).
I hope you find them useful. I’d love to hear any you might have if you’d like to comment.

I love the idea of keeping threaded needles around a bobbin! I have made myself some needle books where I keep threaded needles, but this method seems much neater and easier. Thanks for the tip!
This Needle Keeper is the idea I need. I have a silly little needle holder that I’m not happy with and I don’t want to take the time to make a new one. But this, I could do, and will do. Thanks!
The needle holder idea is fantastic. Thanks for posting!
