This morning I went to the Camden Country Quilters’ Friendship Day to learn foundation paper piecing. Our teacher Jan was very patient with me as, being spatially challenged, I spent much of the time “unsewing”. However I was very pleased with the final result and fully intend to try a few more things using this method.
Ort/gift bag
I’ve had the pattern for this bag going round in my head for three days now and I just had to let it out – besides I need an ort bag. It stands 4.5″ tall and folds up neatly like a supermarket brown bag and I’m quite happy with this first attempt. I took photos of the process and may make a tutoiral if there’s any interest. It didn’t take long to make and you could also use it as a gift bag. I think it’s quite cute.
I love your ort/gift bag and would love to have the tutorial. I’m way behind on my messages again so maybe you have already posted the tutorial.
Jan/sd from the QBH list
I love foundation piecing and use the technique a lot. It can be a little counter-intuitive, but you can’t beat it for preciseness and lovely, pointy points. 🙂
Missed the friendship day yesterday. Didn’t realise it was on. Oh well, that’ll teach me to poke my head up a bit more. LOL
Hi Munaiba,
Do I spy the Palm Leaf block that I used in the talking fabric challenge? Nice work!
Hi Doris
Not sure what it’s called. We were told it was a flower and to me it looks a little like a Strelitzia or Bird of Paradise. Thanks for the nice comments.
